This, unfortunately, is a major blow to our chances against Iowa, as we needed Cook's ability to step up and stuff the run against Shonn Greene.

I still say good luck to Cook in the NFL, but it's pretty disappointing to learn that Cook gave up on classes mid-way into the year, probably because he knew he'd head for the NFL following this season. He really let Gamecocks fans, not to mention his teammates, down.

Not that big of a loss

Greene would have concussed Cook into full-blown retard by the end of the first quarter anyway. How can the Cocks defense be worth a shit with a strong safety as the leading tackler?

Examples of Greene versus safety's:

Then he bounced off the same safety at the line of scrimmage on a later drive. No need to hop over guys when you can run right through them.

Cook could have handled Greene.

He’s one of the most fundamentally sound tacklers I’ve ever seen. The guys that Greene will go up against now, while decent, are going to be fair game for getting run over.

Not that it matters much now...

but E. Cook isn’t some second-rate Purdue safety. He’s legit NFL talent. And furthermore, if you post a video talking about Shonn Greene “running over” someone, you might want to include some actual “running over” in the video. Is spinning around like a ballerina how you run over people in Iowa?

No need.

He probably assumed you had already seen videos of Shonn Greene running over people since they have been plastered all over ESPN and FSN for the past couple of months. They had some nice highlights you might have seen on that awards show they just had…WHERE THEY GAVE HIM THE DOAK WALKER AWARD FOR THE BEST RUNNING BACK IN THE NATION.

If you missed those highlights, you will just have to wait until January 1st and there will be plenty more.

Go Hawks!

This one hurts.

Not only for the bowl game, but now it’s painfully clear that he won’t be a part of the team in ’09. It would be nice to have some NFL talent stay for their senior season for once…

Yeah. What's up with that?

It seems like everyone with any kind of potential leaves us early. Hopefully Jared Cook will be the only other one to take off this year. I’m pretty sure he’s gone. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Norwood comes back.

I had high hopes for Eric Norwood.

He has said that graduating would mean a lot to him, and that it was something his mother wanted. Of course, then I hear about stuff like this and I’m not so sure: http://soxandcocks.blogspot.com/2008/12/uh-oh.html. Here’s to hoping he gets his degree.
