Players hold Players-Only Meeting to Boost Morale
The most interesting thing about this story is that Garcia says that some players admitted to playing scared because of what the coaches might do if they make mistakes. While some of the folks in the anti-Spurrier camp are going to say that this proves that the OBC doesn't know how to handle his players' psyches, I think this says more about the players than the coaches. All great coaches ride their players hard and get on them when they mess up. Football coaches are not known for coddling their players. Do you think Nick Saban treats his guys' egos like delicate flowers? I'm guessing not, but apparently Bama can take the heat from their coach while we can't. Hopefully, someone at this meeting stepped up and said everyone needs to forget about making mistakes and just go out and give it 100%.

That is just friggin bizarre
What in SOS’s resume EVER gave the impression that he was not a demanding coach. Hands off with some units, yes, but laid-back? Jesus, this is the man (in the SEC) who perfected rubbing salt into the burned out earth…who made visor tossing a CBS camera angle unto itself…who’s sneers of derision wilt flowers. And, that’s if you’re NOT the QB.

I agree completely...
Anyone that comes to play for Spurrier should know that he’s a tough guy to play for. Hell, like I said, all great coaches are. The truth is, great football players don’t play scared. These guys need to get their acts together and start playing to win.
