About that...

Captain: I don’t think it will be too hard to find someone else who can blow coverages and commit stupid penalties. I’ve never been particularly impressed with his play (not that that means anything).
Norwood: I’m sad to see him go. I’ve always been a fan of his attitude and commitment since he was a freshman. I don’t understand his leaving early if he’s predicted to go in the 4th-7th rounds. It makes no sense to me, like so many things about Carolina football. I hope he changes his mind because I really think he’s making a poor decision.

I agree on all counts...

Munnerlyn was not a tremendous asset to us this year. There were times when I wanted to see him on the bench and, with the way we’ve recruited the defensive backfield over the past few years, we’ll quickly find someone that can match if not exceed his play. Norwood, on the other hand, has been rock solid over the past two years and will be very difficult to replace. You’re right about his draft status; it seems like scouts are iffy on him and he could do better to improve his stock by having a great senior season. Jasper and Kenny faced a similar decision last year and wisely opted to come back for one more year. Who knows why Norwood thinks he shouldn’t do the same. However, like I said earlier, I have a lot of respect for Norwood and wish him luck with whatever decision he makes. I hope Munnerlyn does well, too, but I also don’t think he’s ever really done what it takes to live up to his potential here. He’s got the athletic ability, but his lack of mental focus has probably hurt us more than it’s helped us.
