South Carolina at Alabama Postgame: Topics for Discussion

1. Dropped balls. Penalties. Pass protection. Quarterback dazed and confused. 3rd and really long. How do we fix these things? Are they really big problems or did we just face a defense for the ages tonight? 2. How good is our defense? In the absence of defenses that can embarrass us like Bama just did, can our defense carry us to our goals? 3. What the F$#@ was up with that final drive? Where was the urgency? 4. How does this change expectations?

Go Cocks

What is there really to say? Bama has an amazing D, but we hung in there and showed them just how good our D is. Some crazy plays, some flukes. Some great hitting. This Carolina team isn’t going to be blown out.

Time to concentrate on revenge against Vandy. If we can focus on the ‘Dores, we can go to 6-2. I’m not happy about a loss, but I’m pumped for next week.

Maybe it was Doc Saturday,

but the best description I’ve seen of our team so far was ‘South Carolina is a chameleon. Their style of play will match the opposition’s.’

Alabama has a great D, but we made some poor plays that were not due to the defense. Our D is not as good as Alabama’s or Florida’s, largely due to the difference in our depth vs. their depth. I think we are as good as or better than everyone else in the conference.

Pumped would be overstating it. I’m not Lane Kiffin. I wanted a win, and I think an A or even B+ performance from some key contributors would have been enough to get one. However, I take solace that we are one of two teams to stay with Bama for four quarters.

The bugaboo of failing to finish drives popped up again. Hopefully it is due more to the quality of the opponent than a regression. I wish we could have gotten the last touchdown to better represent the yardage, which was actually the closest all year for the Tide.

Vanderbilt looked awful. They should get us to 6-2 before the stretch that will make or break the season. Thought there was nothing tonight in Tuscaloosa nor Gainesville that indicates ten wins is impossible, nine is much more realistic, and eight would have to be considered a success, provided one of them comes versus Clemson.

Might I say...

that I wish Moe Brown all the best. That concussion seemed pretty severe, and I hope the coaching staff keeps him out at least 2 full weeks, hopefully 3. Don’t play around with concussions.
