Bulletin Board Material for Gas Pumpers
Apparently, Moe Brown isn't too happy that Lane Kiffin told Alshon Jeffrey that he would end up pumping gas if he came to South Carolina. In fact, the guys are using the statement as motivation. Says Brown:
"I’m taking it very personally. I’m taking it personally to the point where I’m going to show him how we do pump gas at South Carolina."
The intensity has just been turned up a notch, folks.

Alshon
has all the makings of a stud WR. Wish he could have been a Vol.
Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
Unlike Kiffin, at least you can just say what you really mean...
Instead of demeaning a state and an institution just because you’re upset about not getting a player you wanted.

I wish everyone would quit complaining...
This alleged comment by Kiffin was blown so out of proportion. The moment it hit Kiffin’s desk, he called Alshon Jeffery and Jeffery denied that that ever took place. It later came out that Alshon’s high school head coach made the accusations: “According to ESPN’s Chris Low "Kiffin told recruit Alshon Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina."2930 Kiffin denies ever making that statement.31 However the incident was corroborated by Alshon Jeffrey’s coach Walter Wilson who was listening to Kiffin’s remarks on speakerphone.323334” Here’s the proof. Look at the last section of “Remarks and Accusations” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lane_Kiffin
Sure, Kiffin is young and brash, but he’s also confident in his ability, and I think that anyone with half a brain should be able to recognize that he knows what he’s doing, and that UT is back on the rise to be competing for the SEC East in 2010 and possibly winning it in 2011. Until then, good luck with the rest of the season. I was there last night, freezing with the rest of the people there in the upper South endzone, right below the Gamecock fans, and you guys have some classy people. I just wish I could say the same for your coach, because unlike Kiffin who supports his players, I think Spurrier constantly throws your guys under the bus.
Thanks, I guess...
but I don’t see how you could honestly think Lane Kiffin is classier than Steve Spurrier. And I’m not saying that Steve Spurrier is classy, only that at the very least Kiffin is no classier than him.
As for Kiffin calling my entire University gas pumpers… yeah, he said it. The story was corroborated by both Alshon and his coach. Alshon even confirmed it yet again this week to teammate Moe Brown. Who has the incentive here lie about this? Alshon, a kid who has gone out of his way not to say anything to the media about anyone and hadn’t talked about the situation the entire week? Or Kiffin, who is already known for shooting off his mouth in myriad other instances? You can chalk it up to youthful exuberance or whatever excuse you want, but he said it. Deal with it.
The thing that really pisses me off about that comment is that it is exactly the same type of stereotypical horseshit that the entire South has to deal with all the time. That includes Tennessee by the way. To have your coach propagating that line of thought sets us all back. It’s not true, and it has no place in this day and age – even in the cutthroat world of college athletics.
