SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week Thirteen

Powerpoll2009logo_medium

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide took their rival's best shot but still managed to escape with a win. That's more than many other favorites can say after their rivalry games.

2. Florida Gators

As expected, the Gators didn't get much competition from FSU.

3. LSU Tigers

The Tigers bounced back this week with a thrilling overtime win over Arkansas. Les Miles must be breathing a sigh of relief.

4. Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels suffered a humiliating loss to rival MSU. In related news, Houston Nutt is still Houston Nutt.

5. Tennessee Volunteers

The Vols managed to extend their winning streak over Kentucky by winning an overtime thriller.

6. Arkansas Razorbacks

The Hogs came up short in their overtime battle with LSU.

7. Auburn Tigers

The Tigers gave it their all, but unfortunately, there are no moral victories in the Iron Bowl.

8. Georgia Bulldogs

The 'Dawgs found some consolation for an otherwise disappointing year with an upset win over Tech.

9. South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gamecocks actually managed to stop the bleeding on their typical late season swoon with a resounding victory over rival Clemson.

10. Kentucky Wildcats

The 'Cats tried hard, but as has usually been the case in their series with the 'Vols, it wasn't quite enough.

11. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Dan Mullen got a signature win for his Bulldogs with a surprising upset over Ole Miss.

12. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vandy's season is over.

Ole Miss should probably be down more and Auburn despite playing Bama close should be below USC. Actually there should be 1 and 1a FL or Bama. And then a log jam for 3-11. Only Vandy should definitely be number 12.

I can see those arguments. Honestly, the problem is that there's almost no separation between 4-10...

I went with Ole Miss at four because they were hot before this weekend and still have a better overall record than anyone other that 1-3, but I know part of their record owes to their weak schedule and that was certainly a crappy performance against a bad team that they had against State. It’s basically a crapshoot after that. Maybe we’ll get some separation during the bowls, but I doubt it, as I expect most SEC teams to win depending on the matchups.
