Mike Holmes Out Indefinitely with Facial Injury

Per The State, Carolina big man Mike Holmes is now out indefinitely with a facial injury:

There is no timetable for his return, but "it won't be anytime soon," Horn said.

This is a tough blow to a team already hurt by the injury to Dominique Archie. The going could get rough for the next few weeks, as the Gamecocks have a number of tough OOC opponents coming up soon. Hopefully we can get through that slate without too many losses and be ready to compete with the SEC when Holmes and Archie return.

This one's going to hurt us.

I was at the Jacksonville game, and it seemed to be that our team played the best when Mike Holmes and Sam Muldrow were on the court at the same time. Hopefully Austin Steed will step in and be able to take some of those minutes. He seems like he’s been contributing more this year.

Strange injury, no? I wonder what the real story is here. I hope the surgery just includes some stitches and cosmetic stuff. Actual eye surgery sounds awful.

Sounds like the kind of injury you get in a fist fight...

Reports said he was just horsing around, though. Guess it was probably an accident.

This one is going to hurt us. Steed is playing better so far this year, but he’s not ready to play at Holmes’s level.
