Charlie Strong to Louisville

After a week of internet speculation, we now know that Charlie Strong is, indeed, headed to Louisville:

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich flew to Gainesville, Fla., on Wednesday to meet with Strong and bring him back to Louisville, where the hire will be presented to the Athletic Association's board of directors for approval. A board meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST.

Strong will replace Steve Kragthorpe, who was fired Nov. 28 following three disappointing seasons with the Cardinals.

This is a well-deserved position for Strong, who has had a very successful career as a defensive coordinator. It's also another indication that 2010 should be a transition year for the Gators. Losing Strong will be a major blow to Florida; make no mistake, they wouldn't have won in 2006 or made it as far as they did this year without him. It will be interesting to see if Strong takes any other major players on the UF staff with him. If he does, 2010 may be do or die time for the Gamecocks to make a move in the SEC East.
