Mike Morgan and USC Part Ways. Morgan had been calling baseball and basketball games since the early 2000s. Here's a Morgan tribute, one of my favorite recent Morgan moments.
UPDATE: Seth Emerson on Morgan's departure. As Emerson notes, Morgan was a favorite with the USC faithful and was a skilled play-by-play analyst, so his dismissal must have something to do with a breakdown in communications between the two parties.

The Gamecocks travel to Spartanburg to take on USC-Upstate tonight.

I know it wouldn't happen, but ...
Can you imagine the abject horror of Todd Ellis calling basketball or baseball? Hate that Morgan is out, I really liked him, and, yes, I was (and, I guess still am) in the camp that thinks that he should have had the full-time “voice” gig.

No idea yet. That's obviously a possibility. I would say it's either that or an unamicable parting of some sort, considering he's leaving in the middle of baseball season.
