Friday News and Notes: Recruits Having Trouble Getting Academically Qualified

The big news today is that Duane Chisholm, Chris Payne, and Charles Holmes are qualifying, and Alshon Jeffery's status is questionable. All of these guys are important, but losing the highly touted Jeffery is the biggest worry, as Jeffery may be ready to see limited playing time in the receiver rotation in the fall. Let's hope he gets his act together and that the other guys do what they need to do in prep school or wherever they go to get on board for the future.

A couple more bits of news:

  • Ryan Succop signs with Kansas City. Mr. Irrelevant is apparently not doing too bad. He signed a nice contract and gets to party for a few days as well.
  • Gamecocks sign DL commitment J. T. Surratt. Surratt isn't highly rated and looks like a sleeper, but the coaches seem to think he has something to offer, so I'll take their word for it. Welcome aboard!
