PrintBad grammar and internet etiquette aside, Ben Axon has compellingly delivered his side of the story. I'm not quite as convinced of his innocence as I think he'd like us to be, but I do believe in second chances. If he's serious about changing his ways, then give him a spot on the team. Football is his ticket to a better life. And English 101.

I'll give him points for courage.
If nothing else he’s explained his situation and given the fans what they always want – an explanation. However, my expereince is that everyone always says they are innocent. Still, I’m generally inclined to give people second chances, so I guess that should apply to Axon as well, although begrudgingly. Count me among those that believe his leash should be short.

Oh, I agree--on all counts.
I doubt he’s really innocent, I think he should be given a second chance, but I think we have to be careful with him. Honestly, I wouldn’t fault the coaches for kicking him off the team. He’s kind of a limit case, the kind of guy that could benefit from a second chance but also the kind of guy that has shown he’s a potential cancer to the team and society. But so were Cory Boyd, Garcia, and others. It’s often the case that guys like Axon learn their lesson when they come within an inch of cutting their own rope. It sometimes happens the other way, too, but if you pushed me on it I’d say that those that make it through OK make the second chances worth it.
