South Carolina at Georgia Postgame: Queries

1. This isn't a question. I love the closeness of this series, but I don't think I can take another one of these games. This one was truly heart crushing. I think I had about three heart attacks in this game, and after it ended, I don't know if I've ever felt so dejected. I was sure we'd win. Foolish me.

2. Despite a few missed plays, didn't Garcia play well overall? Will he build on this and guide us through the rest of the year?

3. How will these two teams finish this year? I can't figure them out for the life of me.

4. It was fair both ways, but are all games going to be officiated like this from now on?

I am so sick

of losing soul crushing games to Georgia.

The Boyd fumble, the Davis fumble/Smelley INT, the Pollack play, and tonight.

This one was probably the worst of all because they gave no real indication they could stop us all night. We moved the ball to about the 20, then dropped a pass or missed a block and settled for a field goal.

If a single wide receiver had stepped up with a big game, we win by two scores. Our if our KO coverage had played to at least a 1-AA level in the first half.

Don't forget the Andrew Pinnock fumble...

Officiating

The refs were certainly well aware of the rulebook. I don’t remember any big missed or wrong calls, but I was watching in a crappy sportsbar in Philadelphia, so I couldn’t always tell.

Pretty sure

That I took at least 5+ years off of my life tonight.

And like you, I was sure we would win. I just couldn’t imagine losing this game. Looking back on it, it sure seems that all indications (see: the past) pointed towards a loss and wouldn’t ya know thats what happened.

I'm going to sound like a tool for saying this,

but I took a lot of positives out of this game. Garcia played really well – honestly. He was checking in and out of plays all night, at no time other than the delay of game penalty in the first quarter was our clock in danger of running out, and he consistenly found open receivers. Garcia only really had 3, maybe 4 bad plays (albeit 1 was an interception).

Now of couse I have to balance this out with the fact that our defense and special teams was less than desirable. Still, if you had told me yesterday that UGA would have scored 41 points and we would only lose by 4, I would have said, “You lie!” (Joe Wilson anyone?). Anyway, I’m sure the game looked a lot different on TV than in person, but I can tell you that the overall feeling among Carolina fans during the game was positive.

You're right

Garcia did play well, and there were positives. That said, I’m still surprised Georgia pulled it out. The ’Cocks probably should have won that one.
