PrintWe just picked up a commitment from former Vanderbilt Commodores pledge Sharrod Golightly. Golightly is a three-star DB who can play corner or safety. Per The State:
Golightly said he can play corner or safety for the Gamecocks. He had 113 tackles with two interceptions and three sacks last season and expects little trouble picking up the USC scheme.
Golightly is a key pickup in light of the situation with Chris Payne. It's also never a bad thing to steal a guy from your rival. (And yes, Vandy is a rival to us at this point.) Welcome aboard! Now, if we can only PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pick up you-know-who tomorrow...

Not "our" but definitely "a" rival...
Come on. Let’s not get above ourselves. They’ve beaten us two out of the last three and almost did it again last year.

I guess in the sense that every SEC team is "a" rival, then yes.
But how many times did Vandy beat us before 3 years ago? Our annual match with them is definately more important than in years past, but I’m still holding out for a bit longer before I promote them to rival status. And for the record, I don’t begrudge Vandy their recent success against us. I just don’t see the things that typically make up a rivaly in our games with them… yet.

Fort Scott Community College JUCO DT Byron Jerideau gave his verbal pledges to the Gamecocks also and will sign on Wednesday

Yep. Jerideau is a big boy...
Hopefully he can be a run stopper for us.
If we can finish out with Lattimore and Parker, this class will be a really good one.
