Tennessee at USC Baseball Open Thread

The Gamecocks host the Tennesee Volunteers today in Columbia. Blake Cooper starts for Carolina and Bryan Morgado starts for the Vols. Morgado has been beaten up a little bit from time to time (5.00+ ERA), so it will interesting to see how good we can get the bats going.

Not bad and not particularly good.

I got a couple of the upsets, like Cornell today and Murray St. yesterday. But I haven’t done so well with some of the close calls, like the 8-9s and 7-10s. I actually picked Clemson for today. Blew that one. Should have known, I guess.

I really haven't been able to watch as much as I'd like. Too much work this weekend. I'm taking comps in a couple of weeks.

I’ll be honest, I pick Clemson ever year to mitigate the pain I’ll feel if they win. So far it’s worked.

You shouldn't have let him. Cornell was an easy call. Honestly, I would have argued that they should have been seeded higher than Temple.

They took too much heat for that loss to Penn. They dominated for most of the year and even played some heavyweights tough during the non-con. They’re a solid top-25 team, IMO.

I’m feeling good about comps. Lots of prep still to do, but I think I’ll do fine. And so do my advisers, so hopefully no worries.

Cornell got the shaft on their seeding. That’s the kind of team I always pick, unless they’re matched up with a powerhouse.

Yeah.

The jury is still out on this team. Our pitching still scares me. I wish we could find a dad-gum closer. UT isn’t usually one of the powerhouse programs in the SEC, but there’s no doubt that they’re a lot better than Duquesne and our mid-week opponnents so far.
