Monday News and Notes: Rankings Update and More

Greetings, Gamecocks fans. It's Monday, and the latest baseball rankings are out. As expected, the 'Cocks dropped a bit in each poll. Rivals and Collegiate Baseball have us at seventhUSA Today / ESPN at ninth, and Baseball America at tenth. We actually rose to 13th in the RPI. All of this suggests to me that we probably need a solid performance in Hoover to get that national seed.

Some additional news and required reading:

Gamecocks Finish First in SEC East. The SEC released the regular season attendance totals for all teams on Sunday. South Carolina was first in attendance in the East and fourth overall drawing 221,219 fans, an average of 6,703 per game.

GamecockCentral.com - BLOG: Garcia Must Choose Path To Follow. Noteworthy quote:

well known sports talk show host Paul Finebaum, who fancies himself a buddy of Spurrier, blasted Garcia recently as the "worst quarterback in the history of the SEC" on his national show broadcast on XM Radio.

Obviously, Finebaum never met Tommy Beecher. Or Chris Smelley. Or any of Mississippi State's QBs from the past decade.
