Should we be happy that the Cocks out-scored Tenn. State (Ohio Valley Conference) 44-31 in the second half and nearly erased a 22 point lead with 14:49 remaining in the second half; and that we even had a chance to squeak out a win in the last seconds?
Or should we have convulsive fits because we were that far in the hole to a school that was 0-23 against the SEC before tonight (we trailed 33-19 at the intermission)?
To top it off, we paid $67,500 for the privilege of inviting the Tennessee State Tigers to beat us at the Colonial Life Arena with an announced crowd of 9,000+ that one commenter at The State said was 2,500 tops.
Similar to the Elon game, we held an advantage in rebounding over the Tigers 29-23, so you'd think we'd have an advantage in the inside game. But just like with Elon, we were ice-cold shooting - 40% from the floor (22 of 55). And, just like the Elon game, it was a bunch of poor perimeter shooting that led to our downfall - the Cocks were 7-26 from three point range (Eric S. went 5 of 7, Damien L. went 1 of 5, Malik C. went 1 of 6). Oh yeah, we also had 16 turn overs.
Players have to make plays. But coaches have to coach. Whatever we're doing on the coaching-end isn't working.
