Conference unity and all that. I don’t have to like it. I tell myself that it makes our win ’tween the hedges look that much better if UGA does well. Or something like that. And even though I take delight in calling him St. Mark, I like Richt well enough compared some of the other guys in the league (e.g., Petrino, Saban).

he will be bounced faster than you can sing the “Whoooooh” in Rocky Top. If Dooley is the Vol’s equivalent to Mike Shula, then the question is can UT find a coach who can be their Nick Saban? Tennessee is one of those programs that recruits well even when they’re down … but they are digging themselves a mighty big hole.

Halftime thoughts.
Excellent offense by Carolina so far. Spurrier finally seems to have embraced the the option; Shaw is good at this and with the runners we have, it is really the best way to get the offense to move down the field. Hopefully the long break will allow Shaw and Jeffery to practice more and improve the passing game.
Clemson’s defense looks horrible; Carolina is tearing through them like tissue paper. Even the fact that Carolina is running nearly every play can’t clue Clemson into blocking and tackling.
Clemson’s offense has shined at some points tonight. They can’t get the passing game going due to both pressure on Boyd and because receivers keep dropping balls. Short passes may be Clemson’s best hope; that seems to be the one thing which continually shreds Carolina’s defense, and when Clemson has tried, they’ve usually done well. But for some reason, they keep going for longer deep passes, which allows Carolina to get in and get pressure on Clemson.

Oh, and somehow I completely forgot to mention that Clemson’s running game has been quite good so far, but it’s not been good enough to get the job done. If they go with the short passes instead of the deep balls, it could be a much more effective combination.

The first score came on a giveaway by the officials, though it was a good Clemson drive (the only one they’ve had so far). The second score started on Carolina’s 26 and was only a FG. It’s one of those annoying games where the score doesn’t reflect the stats. Hopefully, Carolina will start to pull away in the second half.

Officials are awwful.
Besides the obvious blown call that threw Clemson a lifeline at 10-0, they let a facemask go against Miles, and they missed holds on Clemson’s last possession that could have led to a Clemson safety.
