Moving on
from EJ, now the main issue is recruiting-what will we lose is the question. That is why I think, among other reasons, that Lorenzo Ward needs to stay on and not hire an outside party that demands a 7 figure salary. Zo is well respected by the defense and as I have said it is his turn. Go Zo, Go Cocks.
Excellent point - our main concern is reeling in
McCord, Shumate and Elder … and making a run at Bullard. I like the idea of promoting Whammy Ward – or at least giving him a shot at the job. My fear is the EJ will ask Ward to follow him to USM. On the other hand, if Mike Stoops is available …

Yep
Mccord really looks like he wants to attend USC. Bullard is a goner and will vomit if he decides on clemsux, all indications are uf. Also can’t see Ward following EJ to usm, but I also thought that EJ would stay in Columbia.

From everything I've read, we're still good with McCord and Diggs. Haven't heard about Shumate. Johnson wasn't the main recruiter for any of them, and I'm sure we're on the horn right now letting them know that we'll have a quality replacement in place.

RB Coach/ DC
There is a lot of chatter at big spur about a rbc, but I do not have an account-anyone?
Scott Hood at Rivals is making the plea for pursuing John Chavis at LSU because he is a SC homer. Don’t see that happening. Why do we need to pay out the kind of money to lure someone like that away? I have a feeling that Hyman and the athletic dept. do not want to spend that kind of dough.
I'd be happy with Chavis. Great coach.
Like you, though, I could see Cooper doing a good job. I don’t think we should see money as an object, though. You have to pay to get the best these days.

I don't have problem with EJ leaving or even not coaching the bowl, per se
Where I begin to have concern is that this happens half-way through bowl prep. The question I have is whose game-plan are we using? EJ’s? If so, and assuming he has been coaching it to our players thus far, who is going to coach it to them now? Who is going to call the plays according to this plan come gameday? If not, does Ward now institute a new game plan half way through practice?
Also, if the team is breaking for Christmas now anyway, when they comeback next week it will only be week until the bowl. Could EJ not have waited a week to start at S. Miss? Seriously, how much can he get done in that week?
I understand his desire to hit the ground running, but the timing is quite troubling to me.
I would assume Ward is fully capable of carrying out EJ's gameplan. He's coached for years with EJ and surely had role himself in coming up with the gameplan.

Yeah, Charlestowne made some good points.
But I like you still feel comfortable with our coaches being able to provide the right instruction.
