Not a good start for Carolina. 2-0 Dawgs after one.

Carolina may have gotten jobbed on the double by Walker.
The radio announcers seem to think it should have been a home run off the rail.

Interesting. I'm not listening, I'm following with the game tracker. That stinks if so.

Another error for Carolina in the third. Dawgs on first and third, no outs.

Poor defense has been the hallmark of this game for us so far.

Carolina gets on the board in the third, but again leaves runners in scoring position.

At least we got out of it. Whew.

Carolina just can't seem to get any offense going in this one.

1-0 UGA after five today.
Carolina is again having trouble getting runners around. We have five hits to UGA’s two, but they have the lead. Hopefully we wear them down late?

Carolina ties it up off more hot hitting from Christian Walker.
Walker bats Matthews around, who had hit a triple on the previous AB.

Skulls, you're cleaning up the bracket game. How did you do it?

I went mostly chalk (high seeds) and picked upsets I felt good about.
I didn’t play into the guessing game of the mandatory 12 vs. 5 upset, etc. It’s done me well so far. We’ll see how it plays out.

Carolina moves into the bottom of the ninth with the game tied. Walkoff, anyone?

Williams with a single. Morales to second!
One more, guys.

Marzili bunts runners to second and third.

One of the only situations I agree with bunting.
Only need one run to win the game. Two men on. No outs. The batter doing the bunting has a low average, is a good bunter, and a fast runner.

Yeah, I'm not opposed to bunting in certain situations.
What I don’t get is when we have power hitters like Thomas bunting in the fifth inning.

Mooney is looking for something he can get under and get into the outfield here.

Mooney grounds out to first. Runners stay put. It's all on Wingo now.

RBI single from Wingo to win it!!!!
Full count, two out hit!

I'm following on gametracker, but I've gotta see a replay of that. Looks like Wingo ran out an infield blooper. Sounds exciting.

it was
Play of the Season thus far, beats out Williams HR against Clemson by a smidgen.
The first walkoff I have experienced in person, unbelievable.
by Gamecockrock on Mar 19, 2011 8:07 PM EDT up reply actions
he hit it to deep first base
1B couldnt run to first, pitcher wasnt quick enough, and Wingo dove in for the single.
by Gamecockrock on Mar 19, 2011 8:08 PM EDT up reply actions
And might I add
good for Wingo, great irony that it was also Wingo that fell just 2 feet shy of a game tieing 2 run homer in fridays game.

'Cocks win!
Wingo with a walkoff RBI single.

What a game!
This team sure likes to live dangerously sometimes, but man, that was just so awesome in person. I was hanging over the railing just behind Adam Matthews and got a great view of Wingo’s dive into first (I also backpedaled away from what I was SURE was a homer by Mooney, but it fell about a foot short). Just incredible. Hoping we can sew up the series tomorrow!
Weird second inning for Westmoreland.
Hit two batters and walked one before being pulled for Koumas. Koumas now pitching with bases loaded and no outs.

I dont know what happened to Adam
he pitched superb in the 1st, then just completely lost his handle in the 2nd

but it was real encouraging
to see us be able to win the first rubber match in SEC play, sunday games is what I was worried about coming into the season, wondering if we could find a pitcher to give us a chance to win.
I think right now that guy is Koumas, or push comes to shove, a Koumas/Taylor combo.

Koumas seems to be coming on pretty strong.

Yep I knew the first time I saw him out in Carolina Stadium
he was gonna become somethin special for us. I feel pretty comfortable in saying he will become a weekend starter uncontested by seasons end. And could become the Friday night ace by next season.

Both teams are pretty deep into their bullpens at this point.

Carolina working on insurance in the bottom of the eighth.
6-3 ’Cocks currently, with Walker on second. No outs.
Garnet and Black Attack: A Blog By and For Gamecocks Fans.
8-3 victory
I was extremely happy to see Marzili come through with those 2 insurance runs, he needed that.
Only other major news from this series, Bradly is now 0 for the last 5 games, and the umps did all they could do this weekend to give UGA the series. Tanner nearly got thrown out of all 3 of the games.
