The best player that the Gamecocks are in a good position to gain a commitment from is ATH Shaq Roland**** (6'2"/204) of Lexington. Roland is a national top 100 prospect and the number one player in the state of South Carolina for the 2012 recruiting cycle. Carolina will try to fend off Alabama, Florida, and Georgia for Roland's services. Other highly regarded players that the Gamecocks hold favor with are S Elijah Shumate**** (6'1"/185/Don Bosco Prep/NJ), WR Jody Fuller**** (5'11.5"/200/Sun Valley/NC), S Jordan Diggs**** (6'2"/190/Island Coast/FL), WR Quinshad Davis**** (6'3"/180/Gaffney/SC), and TE Kelvin Rainey**** (6'3"/210/Yulee/FL). WR Javon Bell (6'/175/Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) is a player South Carolina signed in its 2010 class, but Bell had academic issues that eventually landed him in JUCO. This time around, the Gamecocks lead, but must contend with Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech for Bell's signature.
