GamecockCentral.com's Chris Clark tweeted earlier today that the South Carolina Gamecocks have offered WR Kwinton Smith of Dillon, SC. Smith is 6'4" tall and weighs 195 pounds. South Carolina's offer follows other tenders from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, East Carolina, Florida, Illinois, LSU, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. I would like to think that a logical explanation exists as to why we didn't offer Smith, who's in our own backyard, sooner, but it's difficult to imagine why so many other programs were on board before us - including our in-state rival. Perhaps we wanted to be certain the offer was commitable, and some of his others may not be. Regardless, we'll hopefully be able to make up ground on this big-bodied receiver. We've done a solid job of acquiring speedsters in the past two classes, but with the loss of Tori Gurley and the potential loss of Alshon Jeffery after this season, we need to add a big frame or two to the rotation.
