I propose the commission of two bronze palmetto tree statues, one to be located at Williams-Brice Stadium, and the other at Death Valley. Each tree should be around ten feet tall, and identically cast. Each tree should have a spot on top where a scale crescent moon, also bronze, could be affixed; and every year, Carolina and Clemson should play for that moon.
A Proposal For The Carolina/Clemson Rivalry
Once in a generation an idea is forged that is so perfect you can't help but marvel at it. Ladies and gentlemen, this is that idea. Color me envious that I did not think of it myself. Well done.

easiest way i would think
is that he writes a letter to the AD/President of each school and see if they might be on board

Certainly more appealing than the Hardee's Trophy, although I guess this would probably also require corporate sponsorship.

Surely no corporate sponsor is necessary.
I’m all for capitalism, but enough is enough. Everything doesn’t need a corporate sponsor. I have no doubt that both schools can raise enough money through their fans to make this happen. We managed to raise $5.25M for a video board in the WB. I’m sure that we could raise a few hundred thousand (or even a couple million) for these “trophies.” Besides, USC is big on marketing/branding these days. This would go a long way to increase brand recognition for both schools. And the media (outside the state) would report more on the game/rivalry if we gave them a more interesting tradition to report on.
I agree.
I think both athletic budgets have enough wiggle room to make this happen. Heck, I wouldn’t care if USC paid for the whole thing. I don’t know how much something like this would cost, but I’m thinking in the neighborhood of $250,000. That is definitely doable.

Sounds about right for each "trophy."
Maybe a little more after you factor in design, transportation, instillation, & lighting. You’d also need a fence or other security to keep rivals/vandals from stealing the moon.
Sounds awesome
but are you sure you don’t want them playing for something more dangerous…an axe or blade of some sort
Apparently, there is now a petition you can sign in favor of the proposal.
Found here.

Meh. Whatever floats your boat
As long as you don’t try to give it a name. With a couple of exceptions, named rivalries are attempts to cover over the fact that the game isn’t important enough on it’s own merits to stand out without some cooked up moniker.
The Hardee’s thing is an abomination brought about by some outsider who mistakes gimmicks for passion. I wouldn’t care if we let it sit on the field after the game. The game and the outcome matter. Everything else is just so much foppery.

The Hardee's trophy...
Is embarrassing….I would rather it be called the Carl’s Jr trophy
Great idea
We need something to build some tradition around
