Per John Whittle's twitter, Walker batting fourth
AND playing 1st.
Love this batting practice tweet.

Walker hitting a double after all that talk is just crazy.
Too bad the rest of our batters couldn’t get anything going.
Is it just me, or does Bradley seem out of it at the plate? He sure seems to watch a lot of hittable balls for called strikes. He hasn’t been very aggressive at the plate lately.

I know this UF pitcher is good...
But hopefully we will be able to see his pitches as the shade moves out past the mound.
It is already at least behind th mound now that we are n the bottom half of the inning.i

In this park and with our OF
fly balls like that one are going to be outs much more often than not. If he’d hit more of a liner that found an OF’er, I’d be more worried.

The problem is, I'm not even sure getting their starters out of the game early will help us.
Florida’s pitching staff is so deep. If we know we’ll see our best pitches early in the count, might as well take our hacks.

That's kind of my thinking as well
Plus, any given pitcher can be “off” on any given night. Randall is not only the Gator’s staff ace, but he is clearly not off tonight. Every pitching change is a potential chance for someone else to come in there and mess it up.

Our plan should have been to see pitches early and get to their pen. You don’t have to beat the starter. You just have to beat the other team.

We need to score now. I don't want ( but would take) 9th inning heroics
I don’t think my heart can deal with that two games in a row
Not only for the obvious reason that it would help Carolina,
but I really, really wish the catcher had held on to that ball. 0-0 now would just be good television.

There is a nuance to my opinion that I don't think you're acknowledging.
Playing for 1 run late in a tie game when the opposing pitchers are not giving up anything is much different than bunting a guy over to second in the first inning.

What TFW said
A successful bunt slightly increases the odds of scoring a single run. In late or extra innings where you are tied or down a single run, it is sometime the smart play, depending on the batter and outs.
A successful bunt dramatically decreases the odds of a big inning. Before the late innings, or any time there is a significant deficit to overcome, it is very, very rarely a smart play.

I don't hate bunts
Not with how hard it is to put up numbers in this park this year. Our only run this game is off a SAC, and we beat UVA with 2 SACs.
I would like to point out that if he'd been bunted to 2nd,
they have to throw Williams out at home there.
Bunts cost you big innings, but, executed properly, they improve your chances of a single run.

Coach should have never had him run. I know you take risks in that situations, but I'd say the base runner is thrown out four times out of five in that situation. It was a hard hit ball to shallow left, well fielded. Williams had him by a mile...
and it would have been uglier if the throw had been a bit more accurate.

let the other team load the bases with no outs and then allow no runs? Destiny thats all I have to say to that.
How good has Carolina pitching been?
We just gave up one earned* run in 11 innings. Our CWS staff ERA went UP from 0.58 to 0.64.

Tomorrow is Carolina Day
Today we took their best shot from their best pitcher and their best closers. Took their best shot from their best hitters. Survived. Won.
Tomorrow they get Roth. Tomorrow we have a chance to win on the most important date in our history.
It’s a little known holiday even in the Palmetto State, but tomorrow is Carolina Day. June 28. The date South Carolina beat the British Navy at the Palmetto Log fort on Sullivans Island in 1776 – a battle that everyone thought we would lose. The battle that caused South Carolininans to adopt the Palmetto Tree as our state symbol. The battle that gave us our two mottos Dum Spiro Spero and Spes (Hope). The battle that gave us our two heroes Sargeant Jasper and General Moultrie. The reason why were are the ‘real’ Carolina!
So let’s bring it home on Carolina Day. And while you wear your garnet and black, don’t forget to fly your palmetto flag tomorrow. Go Cocks.
