The South Carolina Gamecocks are ranked 12th in the first rankings of the 2011 college football season. The Oklahoma Sooners are the coaches' choice for number one. Alabama, Oregon, LSU, and Florida State round out the top five. Stanford, Boise State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin complete the top ten. Just ahead of Carolina is Nebraska, at 11th. Additional SEC teams in the Top 25 are Arkansas (#14), Auburn (#19), Mississippi State (#20), Georgia (#22), and Florida (#23). Eight of the conference's twelve teams are ranked.
