Shon Carson May Be Out For the Season
I'm guessing we all winced when we saw freshman RB Shon Carson limp off the field after his lone run of the Georgia game. Evidently it's an ACL, and it's looking like it could cost him the season. It's a tough loss of depth, as it seems we were ready to give him some serious reps this season. I'm guessing this also means he's out for baseball as well.
The question, now, is how does RB depth shake out? I'm guessing Eric Baker moves up to 3rd string behind Kenny Miles. Does Bruce Ellington get a look as well? It's a shame for Shon, who I imagine we'll get the medical RS, and it's also an intriguing subplot for the rest of the year. We'll certainly need to get Marcus Lattimore some help back there.

Yup. Tough news for him and for his help to us this year.
Fortunately, he’ll be able to seek a medical redshirt, and, I agree, should be able to get it. I think Miles has proven a capable backup, and your bringing up Ellington to get some carries at RB is certainly something I’d hope we do. Just get the ball in his hands.

Speaking of Bruuuuce, I was a bit disappointed how we used him on Sat.
I believe it was out of a time out, and we put Bruce in for the Wildcat…I was expecting something interesting. A roll out bomb to Alshon? Hitting Ace on the post pattern? Instead, we did exactly what worked against ECU (and, one can assume, what Georgia was expecting out of that formation) and got stuffed.
I know it’s easy to Monday morning QB that one…could have been an option on BE’s part, or the coaches could have seen something in the defense. Either way, seemed a tad predictable.

I thought we should have used him more and done something unique, also.
Spurrier seems reluctant to use the WildCock. It used to be the “we can’t afford to get Gilmore hurt” excuse that fans heard, now, we have success with it against ECU with a more than capable Ellington, and then run it once against UGA in a game where I think it could’ve been effective.

I also would have liked to see him more, and to open the playbook up with him a bit.
I didn’t like the quick run in that situation. It was third-and-long, if memory serves. Not to say he’s not capable of picking up the first with that play, but it seems like a longshot.
I would have especially liked to have seen it early in the game while Garcia was struggling. Remember when we ran it with Gilmore after the Garcia INT against Clemson a few years ago? We scored on the drive, Garcia got his groove back on later in the game, and we were good. It seems like a nice option for times when Garcia isn’t on his game. Sometimes it seems like we need something good to happen while he’s struggling, and then he gets his confidence back and begins playing well.

Great point
we’re deep enough at QB that we shouldnt have to put up with Stephen’s antics / lack of focus – though I do foresee him bouncing back with a nice game against the Mids.
When Ellington came in, I was thinking he’s pass because certainly UGA would be expecting a run. He ran. Seemed like a wasted play on a throwing down – at least the ball didn’t get turned over.
Feel bad for Shon. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

You have to imagine Miles gets the carries at backup. I think Miles is a more capable backup than Carson, but Carson's speed made him a nice change of pace.
Miles is very capable and should hold up well over the course of the season.
