Stroke. Of. Genius.

Boykin was scared to tackle him. Would you want to tackle Quick Six? I didn’t think so either …

Just rewatched some highlights. Go back and watch Ingram's fumble return.

Crowell is supposed to block Ingram on that play. He gives him one push and then jumps out of the way as Ingram tries to run by him. By this time, Murray is fumbling and Ingram is eying the TD. Something tells me Lattimore would have made a bit more of an effort on that block.

I was watching the play and asking myself if it was supposed to be a screen.

No one really blocked Clowney, I mean the guy is good, but he was going against air.

My thought was it was a screen play, inviting our aggressive line upfield hoping to toss it just over our heads for a 5-8 yard gain. But Clowney was just too fast. I mean Murray didn’t have time to take a breath.

Just my thought.

usually defensive lineman are taught to read the block

or in this case the no block. Watch Melvin Ingram, he actually slows down. Maybe he was keying on Crowell or maybe he just read screen. you watch Aaron Murray’s eyes and they are looking toward Crowell and Ingram is right there.

Watch Clowney explode. It may have been his youth/inexperience that helped this play. The guard just gets a little piece of him and Clowney comes screaming into the backfield. Aaron Murray looks panicked, he looks in the direction of Crowell for the dump, and it’s too late. Next thing Clowney is tossing Murray like a rag doll, the ball is loose and Ingram goes after it. There is one offensive lineman in the picture because all of the blockers are schemed to let the d-line pass and then set up a wall at the next level.

With Ingram making the read and hanging back and Clowney getting after Murray, that play is dead.

And equally priceless was Ingram's quote...

“Why would a little guy like that try to tackle me?”

I smiled when I read it, but I literally lol’ed when I watched him say it in the interview. The look on his face…it was great. I really like Melvin Ingram’s personality.

Melvin

I love Melvin Ingram’s ability, his atheticism, and his attitude. He is having a great season so far, and hopefully, it will continue. What a player!
