Around SBN: Despite Relocation Drama, Coyotes Overcome Adversity

This news has been making the rounds all afternoon. The rumor mill has Steele in consideration for USC's vacant LB coaching position - apparently he and the HBC have some old ties. This is a strong move by Swinney so close to National Signing Day, and relatively late in the coaching carousel game.

Funny...

Quote: “Dabo Swinney and the university are sticking to their statement that Steele was not fired and he is leaving to pursue other coaching opportunities.” This would mean that if we decided to hire Kevin Steele as our LBs coach that he would have chosen to leave the DC spot at Clemson to be a position coach at USC. Still a move up if you ask me.

No one controls their local media like Clemson University.

I wish just one guy would go rogue on them.

Shoot.

Hoping they would keep him around.

BTW

The “Kevin Steele as LB Coach” is not my idea, it was being floated around at GCC. I hope he goes to UT or some other school we get to play every year.

By all accounts he's a good recruiter

of course he’s being blamed entirely for the Orange Bowl loss, but it was Chad Morris’ offense that ground to a halt that turned the ball over again and again.. If the HBC thought he’d make a good LB coach at Carolina, then I would not object …

That second quarter

was almost entirely due to turnovers. 3 TDs off turnovers and one of them was returned all the way. After that, game was over.

Just go and look a Shakin the Southland....

Apparently, the reason that their D sucked so bad is that Steele has well documented mental health issues.

They’ll use any excuse not to admit that they suck.

I read that post at STS

and it sounds completely absurd. The cameras were on Steele all throughout the Orange Bowl and he didn’t look like a guy coming unraveled at the seams anymore than Dabo or Morris did.

70 Points

takes a team effort. Steele is the scapegoat for the kitties. However, his defense, when in the rare instances they were in position to make a play, could not tackle a stationary target. I don’t want him coaching our defense in a league where tackling is at a premium no matter how good he can recruit.

The difference between the ACCCG and the Orange Bowl was astounding

and the only explanation is that the Clemson D had a psychological collapse when the Clemson O gave the game away in the second. It wasn’t x’s-and-o’s, but lack of heart. Maybe Steele takes some of the heat for that, but so does Dabo and Morris; in any event, I don’t have the same level of concern if Steele came to Carolina, and Heaven knows we need to kick up our LB play a whole other notch.

ACCCG

Exposed VT, their offense was offensive most of the year. VT v. Duke was a telling game for the Hokies, they should have lost. Clemsux win over VT was vastly overrated as was Michigan’s win over VT, the Vick days are gone in Blacksburg.
We need linebackers that can pursue and tackle, they did not have that in pickens. But yes I agree our lb play was not exceptional, maybe because of talent or maybe because of coaching. Still don’t want Steele.

Steele is an easy target

No doubt his defense gave up points, but Morris’ offense was turning over the ball and running a two minute drill most of the game. That two minute drill will kill your defense/morale if you aren’t converting 1st downs.
