Here's my final ballot, with explanations as necessary. Draft here.
After glancing at Pomeroy's rankings, I should note that Tennessee does rank lower than Arkansas or LSU. I feel that that likely owes to Tennessee's early-season losses to Oakland, Austin Peay, and COC, losses that would not occur again if the games were replayed today. Based on how UT is playing now, I believe it would easily beat Ark. or LSU on a neutral court more often than not. That's good enough for me.
8. LSU Tigers
12. Auburn Tigers
tryptic might not be completely satisfied with this shuffle job, but I feel it makes sense. I do agree with him that Carolina needs to drop lower than 10th. I tend to believe that the Gamecocks are better than Ole Miss and maybe Georgia but have simply been a victim of a tough schedule and not having their best player for the first few games, and the Pomeroy rankings seem to bear that out in regards to Georgia. Ole Miss does have a strong Pomeroy ranking, but, as the anti-Tennessee, they're playing much worse right now than they were at first and are riding on early results for their rating. All of that said, I also think that Carolina needs to prove it can nab some relatively quality wins before I remove it from the penulti-cellar. (No, Clemson doesn't count.) Lastly, I think Pomeroy has it right by ranking Auburn as low as it does. Nailbiter over Ole Miss notwithstanding, the Tigers have gotten smashed by every decent team they've played, and I won't be surprised at all if they lose out.
Overall results up tomorrow.
