The Daily Feed: January 20, 2012
It's time for the Friday edition of TDF.
Gamecock Football
Post & Courier: Miles undecided on where he'll play next.
Kornblut: Tomlinson sticking with his three. We're 0-for-2 on DE recruits in as many days since I wrote about our attempts to land one of three Peach State DE prospects. Meanwhile, Whammy isn't forgetting to check in with RB commitment Mike Davis, and he's brought along Everette Sands for good measure - Davis meets his new position coach. Shawn Elliot has already turned his attention to the 2013 class, and will be visiting Dillon today to focus on OL prospect Bryce King.
Washington Post: Damascus freshman WR-CB Jalen Christian gets scholarship offer from South Carolina. Talk about robbing the cradle.
Spur of the Moment: Coach says Jerell Adams is "flying up on Cloud 32" after being academically cleared by NCAA. Way to go, Jerrell.
Bleacher Report: Flounder runs down 5 Things Missing from the Gamecocks 2012 Class.
GoGamecocks.com: Trustee proposes changes to weight of SEC wins. If you're a regular reader of the TDF, you were among the first to read about this yesterday when I linked to Brad Senkiw's piece in the Anderson Independent-Mail. The story has now made it's way to CBS Sports though what a single trustee thinks is largely irrelevant in the great scheme of things.
Mr. SEC: For his part, however, John Pennington thinks the news from Anderson equates to More Schedule Whining: This Time From Carolina.
ESPN SEC Blog: Offseason to-do list: Eastern Division.
Saturday Down South: Spurrier Prefers Married, Non-Smoking, In-Shape Asst Coaches.
TRC: Remembering "The Program". Two words ... Hank Campbell. We could play football another 100 years, and that epic, unbelievable, improbable stop at the end of that long day would still be one of the most amazing plays in Gamecock gridiron history. It got Hall of Famer Johnny Majors fired from Tennessee.
Gamecock Basketball
The Daily Gamecock: Gamecocks search for first SEC win of the season. I'm not holding my breath.
Auburn Plainsman: Tigers continue SEC play against Gamecocks. Preview of Saturday's game from an Auburn perspective.
Olympic Sports
The Daily Gamecock: USC track and field to compete in Auburn Invitational.
The Daily Gamecock: Swimming and diving hopes to make a splash in Athens.
Lady Gamecock Basketball
Gamecocksonline: Late Rally Comes Up Short at Auburn.
Spurs Up: Women's Hoops Attracting New Fans.
Loose Feed
The M Zone: Bama "grayshirts" new OC after oversigning coaches. Funny piece, notwithstanding the underlying B1G smugness.
Athlon: Police arrest Ala. man in post-BCS video. I have to admit I underestimated the ability of the police to make an arrest in this case. And the guy didn't even call Paaawwwllll to confess the crime! Maybe he and Harvey can share a cell.
NBC Sports: Brent Venables explains why Clemson ‘was the right thing to do’ for career.

Jerrell Adams
Looks like a de to me and even played de in high school. Just a thought. 6-5, 225 and fast.
How are we on the juco recruiting?
I need to go and doublecheck
but I don’t think we’re took a commitment from a jc player this year.; we did take some post-grad players (like Jerrell). I think this is wise – unless the guy is a top stud (like Newton), it’s really hit or miss with jucos. I continue to argue to whoever will listen that Juco’s should have 3 to play 3 instead of the current 3 to play 2; that would let them acclimate better to the heightened academics and the more competitive football in a four year institution.
