Recruiting: DB/QB Chris Moody now "up in the air" between USC and Vanderbilt
Per Phil Kornblut, it looks like Coach Lorenzo Ward was able to convince McDonough, Georgia DB/QB prospect Chris Moody to give the Gamecocks a strong second look on his official visit to Columbia this weekend. This would be an important "get" for USC, since we could use another corner/safety. Moody committed to Vanderbilt last weekend; it looks like he will make his decision on or just before NSD. I would really like to win this recruiting battle with James Franklin's re-vitalized Commodores. Ward continues to impress as a recruiter following his promotion to defensive coordinator - not that he was bad before, but to my eyes it's like he's transcended to another level.

At this point, it seems likely that we sway him.
Don’t know if there’s any truth to this, but I’ve heard it rumored that Mom wants him to go to Vandy for the education. I guess I couldn’t blame him if he does that; Vandy’s a good school. That said, I hope he knows that he can do whatever he wants with his USC degree if he comes in and thrives academically.

A Vandy degree is a great selling point
and that’s not knocking any of the other 13 members. In addition to the degree, Franklin can sell (a) early p.t. (b) Nashville and ( c) the sea-change in Commodore attitude. Franklin will definitely collect some scalps in 2012 – let’s just hope we start him off 0-and-1.
Where we’re ahead of Vandy, I think, is that we can sell (a) emerging, top-echelon team; (b) good, recent results putting defensive backs into the NFL; and ( c) our own athletic/academic center is top-notch.

Dinner with Moody's HS coach lastnite
I was out on the town last nite with Coach Rozier celebrating our B-Days and he is really heavy on Carolina loves Ward and wants Chris to go there. He played a big part in the last minute visit so lets hope the guys did there job and convinced Moody we r his school!!! Trying now to find out about the visit but Chris’s phone is off cause everyone wants to know something!
