QB's from Low
Chris writes that Connor completed 75% of his passes in the last three games. Just awesome. On the season though, Garcia still had a higher yards-per-attempt than Shaw. Just goes to show how high the peaks were with Garcia. And how low that lows are.
I for one I happy with a consistent Connor Shaw at the QB position.

he has been a really, really pleasant surprise
i remember thinking during the Navy and Auburn games that the HBC must have had no faith in Connor because he wasn’t benching Stephen; but Connor’s learning curve was really huge.

I still think that team chemistry dictated that we had to lose a game before Spurrier gave Shaw his shot.
The team clearly wasn’t behind Shaw in the first game, and they weren’t going to be until it was clear that Garcia wasn’t going to be the guy for us this year. Shaw was better all along, though, and I think the HBC knew that; that’s why he started him against ECU.

This makes a ton of sense to me.
And, overall, I’d rather have a team that is super loyal to their teammates, even if it limits the coach’s flexibility.
Yeah, I don't have a huge problem with it. I hate that it cost us the Auburn game (we win by 14+ with Shaw)...
But I don’t think anyone can argue that this team doesn’t have good chemistry. Spurrier’s delicate management of the Garcia issue has to have contributed to that.

my sole complaint against the HBC arising out of Auburn
was that I think he could have started Connor after the half and the team would have rallied around him – but i concede you may have the better point that the team had to see SG couldnt pull a rabbit out of his hat before they’d embbrace connor

Well, I can see that point, too.
But part of me just wants to say that hindsight is 20-20 and Spurrier did what he could with a crappy situation.
One thing I think we can say about Connor is that he’s proving that Spurrier, when paired with the right kind of QB, is still the good QB coach we hoped he would be. That should exonerate Spurrier.

Plus
It takes time for a new qb to evolve into the role. Connor will be even better next year-can’t wait to see him open it up as the HBC becomes more comfortable with his abilities. I doubt his insertion versus au would have done the team or him any good. It was just not our day.

Wasn't our day, but should have been.
How many interceptions? Still had the lead into the 4th quarter? Still got into field goal range with seconds on the clock?
I disagree that his insertion versus AU would have been irrelevant. One less interception, and we win.
Braves.
Falcons.
Gamecocks.
Two Garcia interceptions and two lattimore fumbles I think.
Lattimore had at least one. And Whitlock fumbled during an int return.

Yeah, I think we definitely win with Shaw. Perhaps it wouldn't have been a whipping, but that loss was largely on Garcia, who played an epically bad game.
Agreed that one less interception means we win. Heck, one or two more completions probably makes the difference. AU might not have scored in the second half if we could have made a decent drive or two. Our defense was just gassed at the end.

Shaw wasn't ready
in my opinion. I don’t think he could have come in a led the Cocks to victory. And putting him in a situation where he was bound to fail would not have been a good idea either. This sort of counter-factual history always bugs me, what if we had done this or that, we didn’t. Shaw was the better for it not being put into that situation. The HBC knew what he was doing.
It was a bad day all around, not just on offense, defense and special teams.
