The Daily Feed: Fat Tuesday, 2012

Kenny Miles: Still undecided about 2012?

TDF - And you know I'm so wired up, don't need no coffee in my cup.

Gamecock Central: Look Back, Look Ahead: Freshman Impact and Gamecocks in polls.

College Baseball Insider: Florida remains unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll; South Carolina stays second. Apparently, the pollsters are unwilling to surrender the narrative that the Gators are the best team in the country - nay, the best team of this generation - even when UF loses.

Baseball America: In that vein, Aaron Fitt discusses BA's Top 25 rankings - College Top 25 Chat: Feb. 20 and gives us his Three Strikes: Week One. See what Aaron thinks of USC, UF and Vandy after their opening series.

Gamecock Basketball

Leftover Hotdog: South Carolina Basketball 2012: Please Avoid the Label. I think its too late, Flounder.

The Rubber Chickens: The Garnet Army of One. Visual aids illustrate just how bad it's gotten at Colonial Life Arena; when Horn has lost the Garnet Army, who's left? (Besides Baseline Jesus, I mean).

Life of a Gamecock: Well ... maybe, just maybe Horn will have this guy - Sheldon Jeter To Rescue USC Basketball? Or should we not get our hopes up? (Ed - Do we even need to answer that?).

Palmetto Recruiting: Phil Kornblut does a capsule on Jeter, a 6'7" swingman from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, here - Jeter has USC high up on his list after visit. Lest we get too excited, however, Jeter is not exactly lighting it up as far as his national ratings, Yahoo/Rivals has not assigned a rating or any stars; Scout has him as a two star - as does ESPN. For its part, however, 247 assigns him an 86 rating (3 stars) and says he is one of the most underrated recruits out there right now.

Charlotte Observer: Speaking of Gregg Marshall, columnist Tom Sorenson straight up asked him about whether he's interested in the USC job; see Marshall's non-answer answer in Sorenson's Wichita State's Gregg Marshall ties to Carolinas run deep. (from Friday). Marshall may be keeping mum, but Sorenson isn't - "South Carolina basketball has to be gutted. This will not be a job. It will be a mission." Ouch. Well, sometimes the truth hurts.

Lady Gamecock Basketball

Gamecock Central: Gamecocks hunting for SEC tourney bye.

Gamecock Football

NBC Sports: John Taylor posts that Kenny Miles still uncertain about a return to Gamecocks. I've said it before and I will say it again 'til I am blue in the face. With Lattimore, Carson and Salley all recovering from knee surgeries, and with Baker having left the program, we need Kenny - notwithstanding what we hope to get from Mike Davis, or from Brandon Wilds.

The Daily Gamecock: USC signee shows leadership on and off the field - Sports Editor Isabelle Kurshudyan profiles Chaz Elder.

Sportstalkgolive: Phil Kormblut's Recruiting Report 2.20.12.

Cocky Country: Vote Connor Shaw For Student Body President!!!!! What about this for a campaign slogan - "If you vote for me, all of your wildest dreams will come true." Hey, it's worked before; plus Connor will need a good skit.
