Darrin Horn: "I'll be over at ten."

TDF - Why do you build me up, Buttercup?

GoGamecocks: USC officials stand by Ohio State hire. If new compliance director Chris Rogers can help us escape major sanctions for the SAM/Whitney matters, then I'll be the first to say I was wrong to doubt him. “At the end of the day, do you want someone like me, who has been in the trenches and seen what you have to do, or do you want some who is dealing with it for the first time?” said Rogers. Well, he's got a point. And he can't be any worse than his predecessor, Jennifer Stiles, who OK'd the Whitney Hotel arrangements.

Gamecock Basketball

Gamecock Central: David Cloninger - Gamecocks Can't Complete Comeback.

O'Burg Times-Democrat: AP story by Beth Rucker that's running in most of the state dailies - Tennessee holds off South Carolina in 69-57 win.

Cocky Country: Winning is Overrated .... Right?

The Daily Gamecock: Downey overcomes all adversity. Devan is now playing for the NBA developmental league.

The Rubber Chickens: Things That Are Kinda Like Other Things.

Post & Courier: Gene Sapakoff writes that ACC hoops can't match SEC football.

Gamecocksonline: Spurrier Jr. Happy with Signing Class, Recruiting Efforts.

NBC Sports: Lawmakers unanimously shoot down legislating Clemson-USC rivalry. So much for that idea!

Gamecock Baseball

WACH-Fox TV: Carolina Day announced at the Statehouse. It actually should be written South Carolina Day ... Carolina Day is June 28, and commemorates the day South and North Carolinians under General William Moultrie repulsed an invasion force under British Admiral Sir Peter Parker and General Lord Cornwallis at the battle of the Palmetto Fort on Sullivan's Island in 1776. Happily, the two events are connected - we beat the UF Gators in game 2 of the CWS Championship Series on Carolina Day, 2011.

Gamecock Central: Dantzler faces tough task replacing Morales.

College Baseball Insider: SEC announces TV broadcast schedule (2/8).

Gamecocksonline: Whit Merrifield interview.

Lady Gamecock Basketball

The Daily Gamecock: Women's hoops look to continue streak.

Gamecocksonline: Women's Hoops Hits the Road to Arkansas. Tip-off Tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern at the Bud Walton Arena.

GoGamecocks: Golf - Getting back into the swing.

Another bit of feed for you...this may have been touched on already, but the ESPN SEC blog is rolling out its top 25 players of 2011 of the year.

Alshon Jeffery comes in at #24, after having been ranked top dog in the preseason version of the same poll. The write-up is the standard SEC blog rehash of the last 400 write-ups on Alshon—Aschoff even goes so far as to say our boy wouldn’t have charted were it not for his name. (So wait, they’re working someone into coverage based on name recognition? ESPN, ladies and gentlemen!)

Not that I agree with Aschoff’s assessment — numbers be damned, hard to argue Alshon wasn’t one of the top 25 players in the SEC this year for what he was able to do when the rock came his way and his big play potential. But once again, you have to wonder why no mention was made of our unstable QB situation in the explanation for AJ’s statistical drop-off. Ah well, what can you do. Excited to see what Alshon does at the combine.

Re: Mizzou.

It seems foolish to insist that it be a rivalry and have a trophy. I’m sure the broadcasters will call it the Columbia Bowl or the Battle of Columbia… whatever, I am ok with that. It’s mild compared to some of the non-sense that tv analysts come up with. But to create a trophy and insist on it being a rivalry? that’s dumb.

And we already have a Hardee’s Trophy with CTU…. so would this one be the Burger King trophy? Just awful.
