The Gamecocks moved up to # 8 in the latest A.P. poll, and for a second straight week kept the # 9 slot in the USA Today coach's poll.
Other ranked SEC teams (with USA Today rankings in [ ]) are: Alabama 1 ; LSU 3 ; Georgia 7 ; Florida 18 and Tennessee 23 [NR].
Former # 8 Arkansas tumbled out of both polls following the Hogs' OT loss to University of Louisiana-Monroe. Razorback fans - many who have complained vociferously over the preseason whenever Carolina ever received *any* notice ahead of them (be it a poll, player rankings or a "best" unit listing) - now have sole possession of "number two" - i.e., the second biggest poll drop since App State beat then # 5 Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2007. All is not totally lost, however: the Hogs are still # 21 in the USA Today poll.
How about the 'lowly' Eastern Division? Half the squads are in the top 25, and Missouri likely isn't far behind. Vanderbilt had some rough luck at Northwestern (that's what you get for selling out the whole fall camp preparing for us, Coach Franklin), but they're going to beat somebody they shouldn't this season. Or maybe two or three.
