This season has been a roller coaster ride thus far for me. First let me state the particulars of my Gamecock fandom. It all starts with my parents; my mom and dad both grew up un Columbia and attended USC. They were hardly the only family members to attend either, I have numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles that can call themselves alumni. This is were the fork in the road comes, my family relocated to Atlanta Georgia which forced me to stay in state due to the cost of out of state tuition. All of this background is to simply state that I am an unconventional fan and boy do I get grief for it every time I cheer them on. My point is I have been supporting them for so long and am so hungry for something HUGE to hang my hat on with them and I constantly get disappointed.
I guess it wouldn't be that big if a deal if my other sports teams ever won anything but is exacerbated with the Cocks. How long will it take us to crest that hill we have been climbing for so long? I desperately want to believe that we can do it this year and have hope but years of disappointment have me extremely cynical and not allowing my self to believe yet. Am I the only one? Does this make me a bad fan?
Hoping we can turn Rocky Top into Cocky top this weekend! Go Cocks.
