247Sports: Sorry to start y’all off with so bureaucratic stuff, but Ray Tanner has reorganized his senior athletics staff. Notably, Charles Bloom has named Executive Associate Director/Chief of Staff. This sounds incredibly boring. Moving on. Season ticket sales for the 2016 season remain strong despite a less than stellar 2015 season. It seems the fanbase is a bit reinvigorated due to the overhauled coaching staff. Here’s some news on JaMarcus King since he arrived on campus in early June; it seems Mr. King is improving at an exponential pace, which is crucial for a depleted South Carolina Gamecocks secondary. Lastly from 247Sports, Tyler Johnson has made the cut for the USA National Team!
The State: South Carolina point guard PJ Dozier is getting some instruction from one of the best guards in the NBA. PJ has been taking part in Stephen Curry’s SC30 Select Camp in California. Hopefully Dozier will continue to improve as he figures to be a huge part of the Gamecocks basketball team in the 2016-2017 season.
Card Chronicle: The South Carolina women’s basketball team will take on the Louisville Cardinals in the 2016 Hall of Fame Challenge. This will figure to be an early test for a Gamecocks squad that feel well short of their expectations with an early exit in the Sweet Sixteen.
ESPN: Ranking the best states to find defensive recruits. Naturally South Carolina is towards the bottom because of its small population.
GABA: It’s been a big week for former Gamecock QB Connor Shaw. Firstly, he joined the greatest podcast in all the land (that’s us), then he was released by the Browns, and then picked up by the Saints Bears. Also might the Gamecocks grab a former 4 star RB recruit via transfer?
SDS: Longtime ESPN staple Mike Tirico is moving on to NBC. If y’all remember, Mike Tirico was on the call for the 2013 Outback Bowl when Jadeveon Clowney destroyed the entire state of Michigan.
