Sports Illustrated ranks South Carolina No. 3 in early 2014-15 women's basketball top 10

Dawn Staley's Gamecocks, who return all five starters from last year, were likely to earn a high ranking in the preseason polls regardless of whether A'ja Wilson chose South Carolina on Wednesday. She did, though, and that doesn't hurt.

Gamecocks Spring Game 2014 Highlights

Sights and sounds from the Gamecocks 2014 Spring Game. I love that Dawn Staley caught a touchdown.

Anonymous executive takes courageous stance against Jadeveon Clowney

An anonymous NFC executive described Jadeveon Clowney as "spoiled" and stated he "never worked hard a day in his life." This executive took this courageous stance behind the veil of secrecy, and likely would never state this in a public forum with his name attached to the statement. In conclusion, stupid people continue to say stupid things about one of the best players in college football, and we continue to report on it because it will be fun to look back on these articles after Clowney rolls up 10+ sacks in his first NFL season.

South Carolina spring game preview

I joined Mark Rogers to discuss South Carolina's spring practice, including Brison Williams' work at cornerback, Busta Anderson's triceps injury, and Mike Matulis' surprising emergence at right guard. I also open the emotional wound that is the 2011 Auburn game. I'm not sure how that happened.

Steve Spurrier speaks after final spring practice

Steve Spurrier talks about his trip to Augusta, Ga. for The Masters and reveals that the off-the-bench pass-catcher will be a local celebrity. He didn't have much to say (or to be asked about, apparently) regarding the football practice that just happened.

Anderson will miss four months with triceps tear

This should put the rising senior on track to return to action just in time for the season opener on August 28. Fortunately for South Carolina, the Gamecocks' tight end reserves are well-stocked. Jerell Adams, Drew Owens, Kelvin Rainey, and Jacob August should give Steve Spurrier plenty of options.

Steve Spurrier regrets he cannot attend your wedding

A couple sent Steve Spurrier a save the date for their August 16 wedding. Coach seems to respond in his autograph that he cannot attend, but leaves himself some wiggle room. Props to the HBC for recognizing that he should inform the couple as soon as possible that he won't make it so they can save money or send invitations to the "alternate" guests. Kudos to this woman for both inviting Spurrier to her wedding, as well as scheduling it for two weeks before football season. August 16 leaves you time to get married, have a honeymoon, and make it back to Columbia in time for our August 28 kickoff against Texas A&M.

Jadeveon Clowney pro timing day highlights

This is probably the last time you'll ever get to see Jadeveon Clowney running around on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium and discussing said running-around after the fact. Clowney seems a bit more prepared for some of the questions he's being asked about the NFL Draft. I reckon that after being asked "Do you want to be the No. 1 overall draft pick?" a thousand times or so you eventually come up with a pretty good response.

Devin Taylor attends Pro Day wearing shirt with gigantic print of a lion's face

Devin Taylor was always one of the more interestingly-shirted Gamecocks during his five years in the South Carolina football program and it appears that two seasons in the NFL has done nothing to subdue his eccentricities. Praise be.

Reed Scott has reflexes, enjoys living

Reed Scott acted quickly to catch a comebacker in the Gamecocks' 4-0 win over Coastal Carolina.
