SEC Power Poll: Final Ballot
Final ballot. Quick deadline on this, so no time for draft, but let me know if you disagree with any of my picks, and why.
You all know that I was vehemently against the rematch, so I'm reluctant to make this pick, because part of me feels that Alabama should have never been there in the first place. However, it's hard to argue with the kind of dominance Alabama put on the field in the game, which clearly suggested that the original results may have been a fluke.
2. LSU Tigers
All of that said about Alabama, you still have to feel for LSU. Hung tough all season and then lost the title to a team they had already beaten. It should be recognized, though, that LSU might have lost to other teams, as well, with such poor line and QB play.
You have to feel for the Hogs. Another excellent season, but they're stuck in the same division as Alabama and LSU, with Auburn sure to pose a third challenge next year. Of course, I doubt anyone minds seeing Petrino squirm.
Unlike LSU and Arkansas, the Gamecocks can't complain. After years of mediocrity, Carolina appears to have finally broken through, with two-straight good seasons and continued good prospects in sight.
The Outback Bowl summed up Georgia football--so close, yet so far. Dawgs fans will find consolation in the creampuff war known as their 2012 schedule.
The Tigers ended 2012 with a win in the Chick-fil-A Bowl and started 2012 by hiring Brian Van Gorder. Not bad.
Not impressed with their win over Ohio St. Mistake-filled game won by the less-crappy team.
Not the 2011 the Bulldogs envisioned at one point, but not a bad season. Things have been worse in Starkville.
Same as above. Maybe they didn't finish as well as they had hoped, but this isn't the same old Vandy.
Next year is going to be do-or-die time for Joker. The luster of beating Tennessee will wear off once Big Blue realizes Tennessee sucks, which they probably already do.
What red-blooded American isn't enjoying the Vols' travails?
Tough times for the Black Bears. The Hugh Freeze-thing seems to be a bit of a gimmick.
BCS Championship Game Open Thread
Needless to say, Rematch Armageddon is tonight. Chat here about the game. Thoughts, predictions, good recipes for grass, etc., are all welcome.
SEC Power Poll Draft Ballot: Week Eleven
Let me know if you have any thoughts.
1. LSU Tigers
No surprises here. Will be interesting to see if Arkansas has anything for LSU.
I can't keep us above UGA any longer. They looked great yesterday; in fact, I think they looked perfectly capable of competing in the SEC Championship Game.
Gotta like Vandy's chances of becoming bowl-eligible against UT.
SEC Power Poll Draft Ballot: Week Ten
Let me know if you disagree with anything.
1. LSU Tigers
UGA and USC have the same records and we beat UGA head-to-head. I'll put UGA ahead of us if we lose to Florida next week. Until then, USC stays on top.
Really have to feel bad for these guys, who have come up just short on big upsets in three straight SEC contests.
24-0 against Middle Tennessee State was a little underwhelming, but Justin Worley played well.
SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week Nine
Here's my final ballot. As you'll see, I did place Ark. above USC. As underwhelming as Ark. has been lately, they have a couple of things going for them: 1., they beat Auburn, a common opponent USC lost to, and 2., their only loss is to Alabama, meaning they've only lost to a really, really good team. I also swapped Auburn and Georgia after realizing I had Georgia higher in the SBN blogpoll and that I do, in fact, think UGA is better.

SEC Power Poll Draft Ballot: Week Nine
You know the drill. Let me know if you disagree with anything.
1. LSU Tigers
No surprises here.
I really like the way we're playing right now, and Arkansas and Auburn have been underwhelming of late, so I'm moving us up.
This team was very fortunate yesterday and is ripe for an upset.
The Tigers struggled with Ole Miss in the first half before putting away the hapless Rebels late.
Emotional win for the Dawgs yesterday, but it wasn't particularly impressive. Florida looked awful, and a better team than Georgia could have won that game big.
This team must be so frustrating to Gators fans.
8. Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs got a win against Kentucky yesterday, finally getting a conference win after losing several close games against a tough schedule.
You have to feel sorry for these poor guys. They've had Georgia and Arkansas on the ropes but haven't managed to pull the upset. Yesterday's loss was particularly excruciating.
This team is a train wreck. It's going to get worse for them, too, when they lose to Vandy later in the season.
These two teams play each other next week to see who gets the ignominious honor of being the SEC's worst team.
SEC Power Poll Draft Ballot: Week Eight
You know the drill--tell me if you disagree with any of these picks.
1. LSU Tigers
No surprises with the first two. I guess you could quibble about the ordering, but we'll find out soon, won't we?
The Hogs didn't look their best against Ole Miss, but they won on the road, which is sometimes all that matters.
I'm not going to penalize them for getting swamped in Baton Rouge. Happens to the best of them.
I want to see the Gamecocks win a couple of games with Marcus Lattimore before I move them up to four or higher.
You could again quibble with ordering here, but we'll learn the truth here soon.
I'm having trouble deciding which one of these teams is the better. I'm going with MSU, which can at least say that it's been competitive in its losses.
The Commies have an argument for moving up above Tenn. and / or MSU, but I'd like to see them beat an SEC team other than Ole Miss before I give them too much credit.
Tough loss against Arkansas for the Rebs, who finally showed some life this week.
The 'Cats snapped their losing streak with a win over FCS Jacksonville St. Although that certainly won't impress anyone, they can at least say that the bottom didn't completely fall out on what has been a fairly miserable season thus far.
SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week Seven
Here's my final ballot. The only change from yesterday is that I placed Auburn ahead of us based on the head-to-head result and the injury situation. I still maintain that we would have beaten Auburn if we had started Connor Shaw, but I also think you have to knock us a bit due to the uncertainty now that Marcus Lattimore is out. At this point, Auburn seems like the surer bet. That's subject to reconsideration as the season progresses, of course.
I should note that I've seen a couple of ballots with UGA ahead of us. I call shenanigans there. UGA may win the SEC East, but if they do, it will almost certainly have more to do with their soft schedule than with any merit of their own. Anyone who watched their game against Vandy should know that they're no better than us and that they have the same problems that they've had in recent years. And, last time I checked, we did come out of their house with a win.
