Three-star running back Mon Denson of Lagrange (Ga.) High School committed to South Carolina on Tuesday. The 6'0, 214-pound prospect chose the Gamecocks over 16 other offers, including North Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Kansas State, and West Virginia.
Denson picked up an offer from South Carolina at the Gamecock Showcase event over the weekend of July 25; it didn't take him long to accept. Denson becomes the second running back to commit to the Gamecocks during the 2015 cycle. Three-star running back AJ Turner of Clifton, Va. committed to South Carolina on July 10. In the video above, Denson confirms that he was told South Carolina only planned to take two running backs this cycle. Moments after news of Denson's commitment got out, Gamecock target and four-star running back Ty'Son Williams committed to North Carolina.
Denson is the No. 39 running back and the 532nd-ranked overall prospect in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports Composite index. Denson is the 25th prospect to commit to South Carolina's 2015 class. With his pledge, the Gamecocks hold steady at No. 4 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
Really like Mon Denson pick up today. Reminds me of former UGA RB Danny Ware. Not the best top end speed but tough runner, move the chains.

What will Steve Spurrier call him?
Not all players have names that are likely to be converted into hilarious, HBC-authored nicknames. It's hard to do much with 2016 commit Kyle Davis, for example. But Mon Denson is a lot more fun.
