Name: Jordan Rhodes
Hometown: Fairburn, GA
Height/Weight: 6-06 / 300 lbs
Position: OL
Rating: 2-star / 3-star. (Rivals/247 composite - 84 rating)
Jordan Rhodes didn’t play football until his Junior year, but that didn’t stop him from earning all-state honors as a left tackle for Creekside HS and catching the eye of three SEC schools in the process. Rhodes ultimately chose the Gamecocks over Mississippi State and Missouri. He represents the first recruit under Eric Wolford, but Shawn Elliot was the guy that first discovered Rhodes.
Strengths: Looks like he’s really got some strength, and an ability to lock on his blocks with consistency. Creekside had three 1,000-yard rushers last season with Rhodes as the left tackle, so that’s got to speak (at least a little) to his talent. You can see from the video(s) that he’s also very aware of the quarterback and knows how to hold a pocket.
Weaknesses: Going off gut feeling here, but, it seems as though he’s not very technically sound. We all know how the story has gone in the past with offensive lineman ‘projects’ and the coaching staff’s inability to develop ‘raw’ talent, but maybe things will change with Wolford at the helm.
