When a player misses significant practice time, Steve Spurrier tends to not let that player start. Well, Mike Davis' nagging rib injury caused him to miss significant practice time, so it looks like he's not going to start.

This likely means that it will be Brandon Wilds on the field for the Gamecocks' first offensive play from scrimmage. Wilds and Davis split the ball-carrying duties in 2013 whenever both were healthy at the same time and will likely do the same in 2014. In short, this is news that is likely to make gamblers and Gamecock fans nervous but ultimately shouldn't impact the outcome of the game.
In significantly less high-profile roster news, The Big Spur is reporting that Wesley Green, Michael Scarnecchia, Shaq Davidson, and Devin Washington did not dress with the team. Of those players, only Green and Davidson were represented on the latest depth chart.
