The Gamecocks will open the CWS against the Oklahoma Sooners, who came back from one down to beat the favored Virginia Cavaliers. A potential game with Clemson could be on the horizon in the following game, as the Tigers open against Arizone State in our bracket.

As expected, the Gamecocks will be hosting a regional. Stay tuned tomorrow to see who will be joining us and if we get a national seed. Clemson, also as expected, was not selected to host, so we may see them in Columbia. I expect they're headed to Coastal's regional, though.

The Gamecocks completed a two-game sweep over woeful Valparaiso today. If you don't think these victories matter, go see what's been happening to Georgia and Arkansas lately. Carolina set two school records: Whit Merrifield set the consecutive hitting streak record, and our pitchers broke a record by combining for 18 (whoa!) strikeouts.
