BOWL PREVIEW: R+L Carriers New Orleans

Bowl: R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, 8 p.m., ESPN2

Teams: Florida Atlantic at Memphis

Florida Atlantic's season was... Florida Atlantic is in a bowl. I'd say they had a pretty d*mn good season.

Memphis' season was... Memphis is competing in football, or what the Tiger faithful call "that other sport." They started out 2-4, then won five of their last six games.

FAU impact player: QB Rusty Smith wasn't the most accurate signal-caller in the world, completing 256-of-447, but he also had a solid TD-to-INT ratio of 27-to-8 and threw for 3,352 yards.

Memphis impact player: WR Carlos Singleton. His 47 catches are good for second-most on the team, but Singleton scores. Ten times this year, in fact, with seven of those coming in the last four games. He has 704 receiving yards overall, 380 in the last four games.

Fun Sponsor Fact: They also sponsor race cars. (I've had a bank and a trucking company to work with so far. What do you want from me?)

Prediction: Florida Atlantic is happy to be there, and has the wily Howard Schnellenberger to lead them to victory. Or something like that.

Who you calling 'wily'?

Give this one to the Owls, 37-28.
