Wednesday Morning Gamecocks News Link Dump

Gamecocks Football

Joe Person's Thoughts on Spring Practice. Among the news? Heath Batchelor is back, Stephen Garcia is playing well and looks to have gotten a better handle on the offense, and Cliff Matthews continues to play well on both sides of the ball. Could it be that spring practice is going well this time around? I hate to get my hopes up too quickly, but things sound positive so far.

Norwood Glad He Stayed. Norwood claims that he still wonders whether he made the right decision, but that overall he's glad to still be here. I hope he has a good year next season, both for USC's benefit and for that of his draft stock.

Gamecocks Baseball

Carolina Beats Charleston. The Diamond Cocks rode a powerful offensive outing, including an 8-run second inning, to victory at the College of Charleston. The Cougars were hovering outside the various Top 25s coming into this week, so this is a nice win.

Other NCAA News

Auburn and Florida Fall in the NIT. Kentucky is now the only remaining SEC team in any postseason tournament. That has to get Billy G. some credit, right?

The SEC Coaching Carousel. Seth Emerson reports that Anthony Grant may be offered the Alabama job this week. Emerson also thinks that Gillispie is out at Kentucky and that the 'Cats already have a target.

Georgia Diamond Dawgs Fall to Wright State. The Dawgs fell to a cupcake after rising to number one. Go figure. I guess these things happen in baseball, which is one of the reasons that it's not one of my favorite sports.
