Basketball season is now officially upon us, which means it's time to roll out GABA's inaugural Hoops Power Poll Ballot. As those of you who have read this blog for long enough know, I host the weekly results, so stay tuned for those, as well.
Despite their loss at Georgia, the Wildcats still appear to be the team to beat in the SEC, and if their young talent matures, they should be able to make another run in the NCAAs.
The Dawgs got their first truly big win of the Mark Fox era this weekend against UK. This is a team to pay attention to.
Rumors that the Gators might be back this year may have been a bit premature, but so far they're treading water in the hunt for a return to the NCAAs. The OOC loss to Jacksonville isn't pretty, but the win over K-State is.
The Commodores posted some nice OOC wins, but they also dropped their SEC opener against South Carolina. The jury is still out on this team.
An ugly blowout loss to Texas showed that Arkansas isn't quite there yet, but in general this seems to be a much better team than last year. They should rack up plenty of wins in the weak SEC West.
The Volunteers are a tough team to figure out. They posted some of the conference's best wins early in OOC play, but since then they've suffered some of its most embarrassing losses.
The Gamecocks showed a glimpse of what their young talent can do in the win over Vandy.
Should be able to win enough games in West to make the NIT.
The Tide don't appear to have quite turned the corner yet, but they stand to win some games in the West.
Don't feel sorry for Rick Stansbury, folks. This was a long time coming.

Is Trent Johnson's seat heating up a little bit as the Tigers stare down what could be another losing season?
12. Auburn Tigers
Six points in the first half against LSU? WTF?
