Let me know if you disagree with any of my rankings.
1. LSU Tigers
2. Alabama Crimson Tide
3. Oklahoma Sooners
4. Wisconsin Badgers
5. Oklahoma St. Cowboys
No huge surprises here. I still like OK State a bit more than Boise.
6. Boise St. Broncos
7. Stanford Cardinal
8. Clemson Tigers
9. Oregon Ducks
10. Arkansas Razorbacks
No surprises with Boise-Clemson. Oregon I'm not sure about. It will be interesting to see whether losing LaMichael James hurts them. Arkansas I'm liking a lot more after the convincing win over Auburn.
11. Michigan Wolverines
12. Georgia Tech Yellowjackets
13. West Virginia Mountaineers
14. Illinois Fighting Illini
15. Kansas State Wilcats
Michigan is looking very strong right now, but their schedule gets tougher soon. GT I'm a bit uncertain about, but their offense should give them a chance in any game. WVU is the class of the Big East and looked much more competitive against LSU than Florida did yesterday. Illinois continues to impress and has a manageable schedule down the stretch. K-State also continues to play well.
16. South Carolina Gamecocks
17. Nebraska Cornhuskers
18. Arizona St. Sun Devils
19. Baylor Bears
20. Texas A&M Aggies
I said last week that I'd put the Gamecocks back in if they played well against Kentucky, and they did. Connor Shaw has to prove he can play well from week to week, but that about as auspicious a debut as one could imagine. Nebraska I watched last night and wasn't overly impressed by despite their comeback win, which is why I have them lower than some of the other one-loss teams. ASU seems pretty solid to me and has some good wins in the Pac-12. TAMU is better than their record suggests, probably the best two-loss team at this point. I think they'll rise over the course of the season. Baylor has a great offense but their defense will have to prove it can stop TAMU next week.
21. Michigan St. Spartans
22. Virginia Tech Hokies
23. Georgia Bulldogs
24. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
25. Auburn Tigers
These picks are a bit of a crap shoot. I dropped Texas completely because it was clear yesterday that they don't belong on the same field as a real football team. MSU seems like a decent but flawed team. Same with VA Tech. Georgia I like to make a run at this point in the season. Some of you will probably hate me for ranking ND, but I think they're much improved this year and that they'll make a nice run for the rest of the season. I'm not sure if Auburn deserves to be ranked, but I don't know who else does. I thought about ranking Houston, but despite being undefeated and having a real chance to run the table based on the schedule, they simply don't seem like a top-25 team to me.
