Carolina remains ranked as high as No. 4 in the country heading into this week's action. South Carolina will start sophomore LHP Adam Westmoreland (0-0, 2.93 ERA). LaKya Brookins Hits Collegiate Record In 60m Title Run | Gamecocks Online
LaKaya Brookins continues to impress.
In a return to the facility where she won her first national title back in 2009, South Carolina senior LaKya Brookins ended her collegiate indoor career in the strongest of forms by winning the 60-meter dash at a collegiate record time of 7.09 Saturday night at Texas A&M University. She can now officially call herself the fastest woman in the world as her time is the top 60-meter dash run in 2011 by anyone.

This story is cool for two reasons. 1.) Blake Brettschneider, former USC striker and current DC United rookie, scored the winning goal in a 1-0 match. 2.) The match was played in Charleston, SC. Maybe South Carolina's first major professional sports team could be an MLS franchise?
