Bleacher Report: Recruiting the Most Telling Sign of Program Growth.
Leftover Hotdog: Dalton Wilson Not Returning. A shame - by all accounts a smart young man and a hard worker; a victim of not enough scholarships to reward a four year walk-on.
Palmetto Recruiting: King delays making final decision. A 2013 top-rated Offensive Lineman, and current USC commit' D.J. Park's teammate from Dillon, Bryce King grew up a USC fan. There was talk he was ready to pull the trigger this weekend; hopefully, his recruitment won't be a repeat of the Quinshard Davis business.
Spur of the Moment Blog: About four days stale, but some fairly interesting NSD tidbits from Darryl Slater - A whole bunch of notes and quotes from signing day.
Gamecock Basketball
The Daily Gamecock: Gamecocks suffer worst loss in five years against Wildcats. I think we were partly victimized by the short Thursday-Saturday ESPN turnaround (which VU's Kevin Stallings complained about in January). On the other hand, we were on national television twice in a week.
Cocky Country: Big Blue Beatdown: Gamecocks Fall To Kentucky. "The Gamecocks were outmatched, outplayed, and outcoached, a theme that keeps popping up this season." Also: "The Colonial Life Arena was filled with fans in blue, and they apparently even invaded the Garnet Army’s designated area. That probably wasn’t hard, though, considering the Garnet Army is hardly the size it was at its inception." At least it was (almost) a sell-out, Katie.
Post & Courier: Wildcats right at home in Columbia. "The 18,000-seat arena was nearly filled to capacity -- a rare occurrence for USC basketball -- and at least half of the fans wore Kentucky's blue." We can take some solace that it was (nearly) a sell-out, right, Darryl?
Anderson Independent-Mail: Kentucky overwhelms USC. "If felt like a home game in here," [UK's Anthony] Davis said. "There was so much blue in the crowd." Sigh. Like I said, Brad, at least it was (about) a sell-out.
Gamecock Central: David Cloninger isn't pulling punches - Wildcats crush Gamecocks. Scoot Hood posts USC-UK Hoops Extra: Dominated Inside. Check out photos of the USC-UK game by Paul Collins, along with David's SEC Tournament Watch.
GoGamecocks: Andy Shain - No. 1 Cats run wild over Gamecocks. You can see clips of both coaches' post-game interviews here. I wonder if we dropped the 'Cats RPI?
GABA Unsolicted Advice to Athletic Department. RE: Fundraising Idea for 2013 - We really ought to jack up the single-game ticket price for our home match-up with UK next year, and sell them at the will-call window at Rupp Arena. That way, we can get beat this year's record of 50% of the seats going to 'Cat fans. You're welcome, Eric Hyman.
