Bruce Ellington: Status Quo Ante?
Bruce Ellington: Status Quo Ante?

TDF - Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come!

Lady Gamecock Basketball

Life of a Gamecock: Lady Gamecocks Make It To Sweet 16; Beat Purdue 72-61 in 2nd Round.

Gamecock Central: Too Sweet!: Gamecocks head to round of 16 after upset of Purdue.

Post & Courier: The A.P. story - Defense propels USC women past Purdue.

Gamecicksonline: This is just the Gamecocks' third Sweet Sixteen appearance in school history. The University's official story, with post-game presser video.

Gamecock Football

Saturday Down South: I missed this post by Jon at SDS during the throes of my bronchitis last week, but check out SDS Top 25 Players For 2012: Devin Taylor from March 14. If you compare Devin's 2011 numbers to his 2010 All-SEC campaign, you'll see that there was really no drop off at all; the Great Carnac predicts that "Mr. Don't Say Nuthin'" is going to have a marquee year in '12 opposite Doo Doo. No need to thank me - but you're welcome.

Bleacher Report: Randy Chambers posts South Carolina Football 2012: Latest News, Updates and More from Spring Practice. Yes, yes - I know it's a slideshow; it won't kill you.

WLTX: Bruce Ellington May Not Be Done with Football. Further to Flounder's post on Sunday at LOHD, Coach Spurrier said on last night's Carolina Calls that he and Bruce will meet by the end of the week to discuss whether Bruce will play football, basketball or both. (Anybody else wondering if Ron Morris will accuse the HBC of tampering again?) NBC's Ben Kercheval checks in on the story here - Bruce Ellington reconsidering football with South Carolina.

Post & Courier: Darryl Slater has been in contact with Ellington's former coaches at Berkeley H.S. and the word from Moncks Corner is that Bruce "has decided to definitely give football another shot."

Palmetto Recruiting: Dillon OL Bryce King attends spring practice at USC. "'I've been trying to get up to Clemson but have had some family issues that have made it difficult,' he said." Don't feel like you - you know - need to see Clemson or anything, Bryce; Columbia is much closer to Dillon!

Sportstalkgolive.com: Phil Konrblut posts his Recruiting Report 3.19.12.

Gamecock Basketball

Andy Katz: According to a source with direct knowledge of his situation, it will take a monumental offer to pry [Gregg Marshall] away from the Shockers. Don't worry your pretty little head about the money, Andy. We'll back Marshall into a corner and pour cash on him until he gives up. (Ed - Marshall's got more "friends" and "knowledgeable sources" out there carrying water for him than you'd think a poor boy from Greenwood would be able to muster on the Kansas prairies - ya reckon maybe it's his wife who's doing all the talking?)

Gamecock Baseball

College Baseball Daily: In the NCBWA poll, the Gamecocks fall to number 6.

College Baseball Insider: In CBI's composite poll, the Cocks also drop to number 6..

Baseball America: In the B.A. rankings, USC falls to 8th place. In his weekly chat wrap, Aaron Fitt thinks that the 'Cats' sweep says more about UK than it does about USC; the good news is that thinks that "South Carolina will get its bats going — that team will be better offensively at the end of the year than it has been over the first five weeks. Let's hope so. In his Three Strikes: Week Five, Aaron adds "South Carolina has pitched well all season, and a trio of close losses is no reason to sound the alarm."

Sportstalkgolive: Gamecocks’ Ethan Carter suspended (AUDIO). This was pretty much a foregone conclusion after Ethan was sidelined for the UK series. Hoping Ethan can find his way back to the team; he's on strike two, though he may just have fouled out.

Leftover Hotdog: Flounder posts his 2012 Gamecocks Baseball Field Report: Kentucky .

Loose Feed

ESPN SEC Blog: Ed Aschoff discusses the confusing world of Twitter and CFB. I like the fact that the HBC doesn't letter the team tweet during the season.

Mr. SEC: Slive Talks Scheduling And Television. Lots of good stuff over at MrSEC.com.

AJC Recruiting: AJC College Sports Recruiting Lane Kiffin and Urban Meyer: Are SEC defenses really FASTER than everybody else? .
