Kentucky at South Carolina: First Quarter Recap

South Carolina opened its game against Kentucky with a bang. Several bangs.

Streeter Lecka

Connor Shaw's shoulder is apparently fine, as he launched a 60+ strike down the field to Damiere Byrd to put the Gamecocks on top 7-0. Kentucky moved the ball with some success on the ensuing possession, but the Gamecocks forced a punt from around midfield. Mike Davis was the star of the next Carolina drive, getting several touches, including a long reception on a screen pass and a culminating TD run. The Gamecocks forced a three-and-out, and now the Carolina offense is knocking on the door again heading into the second quarter.
